Welcome to the world, baby Hallie

We have some exciting news from the Academy for you and we're super happy to share it with you

Behind the scenes at ATA Beauty, we have a small but hardworking team including the lovely Danielle.  She is our social media guru and all those fantastic posts you see on our Facebook and Instagram feeds are thanks to her.  Who knows how she comes up with such a variety of ideas but we're really glad she does!

Danielle gave birth to a lovely little baby girl, Hallie Diane Marshall, on 11th July at 2.17pm after an emergency Caesarean section, supported by her husband, Andie.  They said they just knew she would be a girl and couldn't believe Danielle didn't suffer with heartburn during her pregnancy with all that hair Hallie was born with!  Now safely home, she is a super-chilled baby who is rarely seen awake and even slept right through her welcoming home party.

Both mummy and daddy are enjoying these precious early weeks with their new baby but, fear not, course information from the academy will continue as Danielle is diligently still posting when little Hallie is feeding and sleeping...thank you, Danielle and thank goodness for that!

Christina, Tranquillity Therapies

Meet student, Christina from Tranquillity Therapies, Ipswich

,Christina, Tranquillity Therapies

For this month's blog, we chat with our Rising Star winner, Christina who has completed lots of courses here at ATA Beauty.  She is now running her own business, Tranquillity Therapies in Ipswich.

What courses did you complete at ATA Beauty?

I have completed so many courses, at ATA Beauty, it's going to be hard to list them all but let's give it a go... Facials, Manicures, Pedicures, Gel Polish, Lash Lift and Tint, Lash Extensions, Brow Lamination, Waxing, Hopi Ear Candling, Indian Head Massage, Level 3 in Body Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Hot Stone Massage, and Level 3 Reflexology.

Wow that's so many! Which was your favourite treatment to learn and why?

Reflexology, I love how in-depth it was and that every single treatment is different. I love being able to connect with the client and how they are feeling today, and in the past too.

What advice would you give to anybody who is thinking of training in the industry?

It takes time, time to train, time to hone your skills and gain confidence in what you are doing. That aside, it is fantastic!  Every day is different and you get to meet a lot of new people which is always fun. I take pride in providing clients with treatments that I have personally had done myself. I think it is good to know and understand how your client will feel.

What have you been up to since qualifying?

I have gone from providing treatments from a room at home to having my own salon.  I have a fabulous client base that are regulars and the salon location allows for lots of new walk-in customers too. I'm always looking for new courses and add-ons to build on my skills too.

Sounds like you are doing amazingly well! What is your most popular treatment, and o you have a favourite treatment you love to do?

Now, trying to pick a single treatment is really hard. I think it changes each week as it'll quite often be whatever I do more of that week. My most popular treatment tends to change often.  I have done a lot of LVL lash lift and tints, also brow waxing, tinting and gel manicures recently.

What trends do you think we will see in the beauty industry in 2023?

I think we are going to continue to see the glazed doughnut look for nails, especially with the continued introduction by polish manufacturers of glazed polish making the look easier to achieve.  I am trained in Ultrasonic micro therapy facials and I am seeing the demand for these starting to increase too, I think this could in part be due to similar hand held devices going viral on social media platforms in the last year.

What are your future plans with Tranquillity Therapies?

To continue to grow the business and keep up to date with new trends and treatments that I believe will fit in with the ethos and beliefs of my business.

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to share your story with us, and now we know what you have been up to since studying at ATA Beauty. Wishing you continued success :-)

Julia Haritonova

Meet student, Julia Haritonova

Julia Haritonova, Founder, Specialising in Remedial, Holistic Treatments, and Yoga

For this month's blog, we catch up with Julia Haritonova. Julia has completed multiple courses here at ATA Beauty and is now running her own business, Lana’s Holistic Centre.

What courses did you complete at ATA Beauty?
I have completed Level 3 Swedish Massage, Level 3 Sports Massage, Indian Head Massage, Hot Stone Massage, Deep Tissue Massage and Lymphatic Drainage Massage.

What was your favourite course and why?
My favourite course was Level 3 Sports Massage. This course really changed my point of view of the whole massage industry. This course motivated me to increase my knowledge in human anatomy and physiology. Afterwards I have completed a Health and Well-being degree at University of Suffolk during the pandemic of Covid-19. My life changed after this course and only progressing every day, applying alternative medicine not just to my clients but most importantly, myself and my family.

What advice would you give to anybody who is thinking of training in the industry?
Get your knowledge of human anatomy and physiology first. I believe, anyone who provides any complementary or remedial treatments must have a good understanding of the human body. A one day course is a big no-no for me unless you are competent, knowledgeable and passionate about what you do.

What have you been up to since qualifying?
Since qualifying I began working as a mobile massage therapist within the Suffolk area. However, in lockdown I used my time wisely and studied from home to increase my knowledge for future. In March 2022, I established my very own massage clinic in Ipswich on St Peter’s Street. Now I am a business woman passionate about alternative medicine, human well-being and yoga.

Do you have a favourite treatment that you love to do?
I absolutely love hot stone massage. I tend to mix it with a deep tissue massage which helps to aid relaxation as well as tension relief in deeper muscles.

What was it that made you want to join the industry?
One of my family members had an issue with her shoulder, my husband’s elderly grandmother. I offered her a massage to the area of concern. Afterwards, I was been advised by my family member that I could be good at doing massages. Ever since, I love every day at my clinic treating my clients. This is my passion, this is my everything.

Where do you see yourself in your career in 5 years’ time?
In 5 years' time, I see myself…. Sorry, I don't like to share my plans. Let’s keep it a secret. Less words, more actions. And behind these actions, there is an investment of hard work.

Do you have a favourite memory of your career so far that stands out?
My favourite memory of my career is the development of Lana’s Holistic Centre. Thank you to my lovely husband for this project's development. I could not do it without him and the knowledge I gained at Advanced Training Academy.

Meet Jane, Company Director and Lecturer

For our first blog, we are chatting with Jane, our Company Director, and Lecturer at ATA Beauty- Advanced Training Academy. Jane has worked in the industry and education sectors for over 27 years.

How long has ATA Beauty Academy been open for?

We've been open since April 2016 and we'll be celebrating our 7-year anniversary this April.  I can't believe how quickly the time has gone and how many wonderful students I've met.

What made you decide to start ATA Beauty Academy?

I had been teaching for 20years and had seen how education has changed.  Students were treated as numbers rather than individuals. The job changed and I felt strongly that students were not receiving the same quality or quantity of training. The emphasis was on paperwork rather than the student's learning. I really wanted to continue what I loved, teaching new skills.  I wanted to be able to provide high quality training concentrating on practical skills in small class sizes to meet the needs of students who have a passion to learn. I feel I've been really fortunate to have so many students who have the same passion for the industry as I do.

What has been the highlight since opening ATA Beauty Academy?

There have been so many! Watching students flourish and excel in new skills and confidence is always a highlight for me. I am also very proud when I see so many successful students go on to run their own salons, businesses and even training academies.

Are there any new courses launching in 2023?

We are launching three new and exciting courses this year. We have already released the dates for our VTCT Level 4 Diploma in Providing Therapies for Clients with Cancer or other Life Limiting Conditions, and will release more information and dates for VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Facial Electrotherapy and VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Micro Dermabrasion Treatments very soon.

  • VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Facial Electrotherapy
  • VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Micro Dermabrasion Treatments
  • VTCT Level 4 Diploma in Providing Therapies for Clients with Cancer or other Life Limiting Conditions

What first inspired you to become a beauty lecturer?

I have a real passion to learn new skills and push to do new things. It seemed like a natural progression for me.  The first time I heard myself call a register was very scary, but once I pushed myself to do it, I loved it and have never looked back ❤️.

What motivates you to succeed?

As they say "love the job you do and you will never work a day in your life".  I truly love my job and consider it a privilege and honour to help people achieve their own dreams. Seeing my students excel is all the motivation I need.

What was your first job in the beauty industry?

I was a spa therapist at Center Parcs, Elveden.

What advice would you give to somebody considering a career in the beauty and holistic industry?

What are you waiting for? It is such a rewarding career, helping people to look and feel their best, and it’s so flexible with so many choices and opportunities. I honestly love my job and if I went back and did it again, I would still do the same. A comment I hear very regularly is “I wish I had done this years ago” so don’t put it off any longer.

Love Jane x
